You're invited to the SolSeed Longest Day Party!

  • When: Monday June 21st, 6-8:30 PM
  • Where: At the future site of the SolSeed Eco-Village!*
  • What: Celebrate and enjoy the longest day of the year with corn on the cob, veggie dogs, strawberries, and s'mores, all roasted over an open fire (well, maybe not the strawberries). Also, we'll have a "verbal house-cleaning" where you come up with something in your home that you're not using and tell us what you plan to do with it (donate, re-gift, sell on eBay, etc). So come with something in mind! We could also use some salad or juice if you can bring some along.

* Also known as Brandon and Shelley's house, 1824 SE Oak Street in Portland--which will soon become a co-housing project, as they're planning to put in an apartment downstairs. We're confident we can expand from there, possibly buying and renovating one or two of the nearby apartment buildings. If you want updates on the details, just tell us and we'll add you to the SolSeed Eco-Village email list.

Other quick updates:

  • The SolSeed Book Club had its second call, with a small but loyal group of folks reading and discussing the book that started it all, Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. Extensive notes from the call can be found here.

  • We had the third SolSeed Service last Saturday in Brandon and Shelley's scenically landscaped backyard, with the seed topic of Meditation. Lyric Hartley led the group of 12-15 attendees in a five-minute guided meditation aimed at cleaning out patterns of reactive behavior and allowing us to become more proactive. Mark Hansen provided a rendition of John Lennon's "Across the Universe," the first song ever beamed into space as a message to aliens. The weather and the potluck food were great, and we thank everyone who attended for their generosity of spirit.

Thanks for reading!
