Seed 2011

  • Armen: Try to see that there is an overlap between ritual and play
    • Useful for people who aren't that serious about the rituals if they are playful
    • HV not sure about repeating the creed, but willing to be flexible
    • Ben not sure about using the Hello song, HV really likes it

Ideas

  • Reader's theater to express how different people feel
    • HV questions the space thing?
  • Planting seeds ... it is Seed 2011 after all
    • Make it lighthearted
    • Some seeds that actually grow
      • Marigold: germinates in 3 days
      • Morning glory: can germinate within 48 hours if prepared properly
    • And some that are just silly, e.g. popcorn
    • Who takes them home?
      • Some might not want to do the work to maintain them
      • Let the group decide
  • Charades like we did at end of Sol 2009

Opening Service

  • 8:30 AM Enlist kids to prepare the dirt and seeds
  • 9 AM: Bells summon people to the Opening Circle - Ben
  • Hello song - Shelley
  • Open Space facilitator walks around the circle in silence, handing people seeds - Brandon
  • Opening words from the Weekly Service Calls - alternating
    • Includes lighting the chalice
  • We're planting the seeds of the future here and we're not sure what we're planting and what will grow. If you haven't already planted your seeds, now is a good time - Ben
    • Have people say "I'm planting X" (joy, openness, insecurity, etc)
  • Mechanics of Open Space - Brandon
    • Both intellectual/blue-sky and grounded/here-and-now topics
