January 2, 2011: Online Work Bee

Agenda

Shelley ... I want to be less busy ... more unstructured, unscheduled time ... when I create a clearing there are payoffs including decreased stress ... going to bear that in mind as I sign myself up for huge commitments (ex. feeding 12 adults Feb 5-7)
Brandon ... I want to be more disciplined, focused, and ahead of the game ... feel pretty good about the house cleanup Shelley's parents did today
Ben ... laptop screen just broke :-( ... I will no doubt be spending a lot of time with tech support sometime soon
Petra ... might be getting better ... appropriate poop and sans diarrhea
Sequoia ... cute rolling pin for Christmas ... really nice day ... teething going better ... can say 3-5 words ... ASL signing for daddy and asking for music, about 20 others

Shelley: My favorite thing is I can fold the laundry during the calls
Brandon: We spend a lot of time shallowly touching a whole bunch of things
- Shelley: I like it because otherwise it's painful ... we go deep when it's appropriate
- Brandon: If we only spend a few minutes on each thing, it's not really a work bee
- Shelley: What if we had the first call of the month set the agenda for the others, and have that be the only shallow one?
- Brandon: Shoot for half the call actually working on a project
- Ben: I think a lot of our projects need frequent checkins to keep them on track
- Shelley: Maybe we should lengthen every other call by half and hour
  - Ben: I think when it's not too late at night I wouldn't mind extending it (when it feels like we've missed important agenda items or rushed through things)
Ben: no specific suggestions other than the usual: it would be nice if there were more people participating
Try out 90-minute call next week

Ben can tell them that he will take the ShareFile down but would still like to hear an answer
Brandon could host the file on AWS for $1 a month
Replacement song: Could give Lori the ideas for lyrics that Ben sketched out, or just give her the video
- She wants rights to any music so she would get a share of the money if the song ever makes money

We want kidlike energy
We don't have 12 real SolSeed Members who are interested in all the overlapping areas
- Feedback from those who aren't into space will help us communicate better
Say "We're going to be talking about space (among other things), but we're not going to assume that you're in to space"
- Don't worry, we're not going to assume that you are committed to space
- You can observe the services with the SolSeed Creed
  - Make sure to spell out what the Creed means?
  - Or leave the Creed out of those services?
  - Readers' Theater with questioning?
Seed 2011 will be our main emphasis for the next few Work Bee calls
- Brandon: Also make it the emphasis for the whole quarter

Laura, an intern at Cloacina, will be living there for a month
- We explained to her that it's a "trial run for living in community"
Jason Swift is still working on the Alaska project, out of town January 8th-18th

Village: Start construction on a backyard cottage
Outreach: Two more contributing members
Media: Finish the two books and maintain SpaceWiki
Spiritual practice: Maintain the spiritual practice (weekly service calls, in-person solstice and equinox events)
Service: $10,000 or 200 hour contribution (or some combination) to a service project that brings life

Note: Village, Media, and Service can all contribute toward Outreach as a general goal

Seed 2011
- Yellow: The event occurs on February 5-7
- Green: Everyone who attends feels positively toward SolSeed when they leave
- Super Green: Somebody "levels up"
Children's book
- Yellow: Another test copy
- Green: Publish it
- Super Green: Distribute it to 20 people
