Moving Planet

Permit application: http://www.portlandonline.com/omf/index.cfm?c=29561&a=69109

  • Where to have people gather and get on bikes?
    • Vera Katz Esplanade?
  • Look up what paramedics would be available in the event area?
  • Attendence estimates?
    • Shelley: 20-25
  • Brandon: No insurance needed I think. It was just my task to check.  :-)

The big Portland event: http://www.moving-planet.org/events/us/portland/527

  • Cancel our event and just go to this?
    • Pros:
      • Shelley doesn't want to get too involved with food permits etc.
      • Our event could get too big for us to handle
    • Cons:
      • Would miss a "capacity building" opportunity
      • Miss opportunity to recruit for SolSeed ... people who attend our event (rebuttal: they are going to be focused on climate change, not sending life into space)

Brandon: Not sure ... I'm sympathetic to both points of view ... capacity building, pain in the ass ... what if we have the simplest possible "big event" and then have food for our core group?

Shelley: Why not have people meet at our house and commute from there by bike to the big event? Return to our house and have food AT OUR HOUSE served by our official food handler, Brandon

  • Or have brunch beforehand
  • Could still list it on Moving Planet ... and still apply for a free permit?
  • Could bike past OMSI
  • Could try to talk to people about SolSeed at the event ... look for kindred spirits
  • We could all wear our starfarer shirts :-) Bikes won't be in the parade though will they?
    • Ben thinks they probably will, but it doesn't matter that much

Evaluation

  • Shelley ... Under the circumstances we were quite productive ... we had perseverance
  • Ben ... Agree with Shelley
  • Brandon ... I found it a little frustrating but was glad I could hear you guys
