Summary of the April 7, 2009 SolSeedCall

Mark, Ben, Bonnie, Brenna, Bob, Shelley, and Brandon were all on the April 7 call. After OpeningWords and checking in with each other about how we are doing, we spent the majority of the call discussing BeingInAction. The following is the CalendarOfEvents that we're using to get into action:

Check in and Reflections (10 mins)

  • Ben ... confusion of triumph and despair, despair over not passing a climate bill this year, triumph talked to R congressman about why it needs to be passed (well received)
  • Mark ... frenetic, heart-felt energy, on phone and hurried (looking forward to project talk)
  • Shelley ... perseverance, wanting to be in action right now
  • Brandon ... slow and steady, can't sustain a jackrabbit-like sprint
  • Boni ... also perseverance, hoping to make a difference in our world
  • Brenna ... lot of anxiety tonight, busy and a lot to do before tomorrow morning (but happy to be on the call)
  • Master of the Spectacle (aka Bob) ... brings optimism that there may actually be a spectacle

Topic: SolSeed in Action

  • All bring an idea of something to do? Something as simple as picking up trash somewhere on a beach? Something that wouldn't be huge but that would better the world?
  • Bring an idea that we can do, getting us all involved if possible
  • Open to anyone? ... opportunity to talk to diverse people about what it is ... not real evangelical, look for overlapping interests
    • April 8, Wednesday 7 PM (tomorrow), Prototyping the Spectacle at Bob and Boni's in Canby
    • April 12th, Sunday, Clean Trail 2 PM
      • meet in Washington Park (Portland) and clean the trail as we walk, a hike, social time, and a cleanup project meet for picnic afterward
    • April 12th, Sunday, Book club at 6 PM
      • Meets at 1824 SE Oak St
      • Currently reading **The Untethered Soul**
      • Tea and crumpets (what are crumpets anyway? Find out!!)
    • May 23rd, Saturday, Starts at 1 pm Beach cleanup at Pacific City, hot dog roast, check out Cape Lookout Park for Sol 2009
    • Do we want to go to a Convention??
      • Comic Con is the biggest and baddest (40th year) ... crazy, costumes and things, TV and Movie Stars, July 23-26, in San Diego (but Saturday is already sold out)
      • WorldCon, the world Science Fiction convention, Montreal, August 6-10
      • Creation Fest ... Christian Music Festival at the Gorge Ampitheater, also July 23-26

Ted is with all of your in text, though not out loud. :-) Any news on Sol2009 dates? Is it Jun 27th weekend? If so, I need to move an SELP work day to another city. Can do, just need to know. :-) .. Ted check in above?
